Job Summary
Responsible for the overall organization, administration, planning, and management of the Surgery Department, Outpatient Surgery, PACU, GI Lab, Sterile Processing, and Anesthesia Technicians 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Demonstrates knowledge of developmental needs of patient population specific to that department.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing preferred with current registration in Indiana required. BSN required. MS desired.
Training:
Preceptor orientation one to three months. CNOR certification preferred. CPR Provider C required within 30 days of hire.
Experience:
Three to five years clinical experience and education in Surgical Nursing in which leadership and management skills have been demonstrated.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and application of the principles of personnel administration in assigning, supervising, and evaluating activities of staff. Thorough knowledge of nursing process and nursing theory in Perioperative Nursing and Sterile Processing principles. Excellent communication skills imperative in relating to staff, physicians, patients, visitors, media, other department managers, employees of other departments, and outside agencies. Excellent problem solving ability. Provides education for the patient addressing the educational needs that have been identified.
