What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN | Orthopedics/Spine position at Memorial Hospital of Union County?
We are looking for an RN to join our fast-pace team at our Orthopedics/Spine Outpatient Care Facility! In this position, you will have the opportunity to learn how to do the clinical and clerical pieces of patient care to better support the patient’s experience. The current schedule for this position is: Monday-Thursday 7-5 pm Friday 7-12 pm In this role you will:
- Clinical Responsibilities: Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting & documenting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physician with various procedures; sterilization, instrument wrapping and autoclaving; checking vital signs; prescription verifications with physician’s orders; minor surgery assists including surgical tray set-up pre/post-surgical care, applying and removing dressing/cast/splint/DME and suture or staple removal; biohazard waste disposal and monitoring; therapeutic modalities; instructing patients with assistive devices, body mechanics, and home care; laboratory procedures; quality control methods; capillary punctures and venipuncture; specimen handling; provide patient education related to procedures/surgeries; nurse visits, in-office triage and assessments within scope of practice, develops and implements nursing plan of care, and communicates to managing provider; develop emergency triage and first aid, etc.
- Patient care responsibilities: Effectively utilizes the electronic medical records system to check scheduled, complete prior authorizations and organize patient flow; demonstrates acceptable time management techniques; accurate charting; accurately relays instructions to patients/families; answers and triages calls related to appointments, urgent care, impatient admissions, prescription refills, and test results; makes pre and post surgical calls.
- Assist with minor in office procedures and surgery scheduling
- Respond to patient messages, contact patients regarding test results and enter patient recalls
- Manage medication refills and medication prior authorization
- Assist with completion of Short Term Disability and/or FMLA forms
- Educate patients about medication, special diets and preparation for testing
The current schedule for this position is: Monday-Thursday 7-5 pm and Friday 7-12 pm

Requirements
- Current Ohio RN license

Degree in nursing
- Experience as a physician offices or inpatient preferred
