LOCATION: 1202 E. Nasa Parkway, Houston, TX 77058
SCHEDULE: Outpatient Center setting & operating hours. PRN Shifts Available.
PAY: Commensurate on work experience, skills, and market rates.
JOB SUMMARY
The MRI Technologist is expected to deliver the highest direct and indirect patient care possible. The MRI Technologist performs diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies under the direction of the Medical Director and in accordance with clinical guidelines. Responsible for coordinating patient flow, operating all systems for routine, specialty and research studies, supporting protocol development, and performing all duties related to scanning and image processing. Consistently follows proper patient screening/care protocols and provides accurate documentation associated with each exam while supporting expedited patient throughput and diagnosis. Coordinates patient flow through the department. Assists in duties necessary to expedite service and diagnosis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Have a current license as a Radiological Technology from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
- Utilize magnetic resonance imaging scanners to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis and MUST HAVE Fonar upright experience.
- MRI techs must be able to closely follow a physician’s instructions on referral forms.
- Prepare and operate MRI equipment which includes selecting software options and imaging parameters.
- Explain MRI procedures to patients.
- Position patients correctly and effectively record the requested diagnostic images.
- Techs need to have ability to stay on their feet throughout the workday while prepping patients and to manipulate the table. straps. Techs need to assist patients on and off the MRI table.
- Monitor the patient’s condition before and after the scan to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Techs need to able to lift MRI coils that could range between 10-40 lbs.
- Techs need to possess written and verbal communication, sensitivity to physical and psychological needs of patients, attention to detail.
- Responsible in enforcing magnetic field safety for MRI patients, operator and visitors.
- Maintain patient log, equipment service manual, delivery schedule and all related statistics.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School or GED. Graduate of an approved school of radiologic technology.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1 year of MRI experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Should be ARRT certified and licensed by TDH; MRI registry preferred; current CPR required.
