Essential Functions and Basic Duties
Position Specific Performance Expectations:
- Assists with preparing and compounding non sterile preparations and sterile IV preparations, including Chemotherapy.
- Participates in interdepartmental process improvements and process evaluation efforts.
- Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately.
- Able to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.
- Sets priorities, makes critical decisions, and responds quickly to emergency requests.
- Participates in interdepartmental process improvements and process evaluation efforts.
- Strives to ensure continual compliance with Departmental and Hospital policies and procedures and State and Federal regulations.
- Participates in mandatory in-services.
- Supports and maintains departmental policies.
- Supports pharmacy programs which include but not limited to; Infusion Clinic, CPOE, USP 795 and797 and USP 800, Bar Code Technology, DSCSA, 340B, and other hospital wide initiatives and implementation affecting the Pharmacy Department.
- Coordinates, strengthens and integrates Pharmaceutical Technologies (such as: Alaris, USP 797, Pyxis, CII Safe and EPIC).
- Procures and maintains medication and IV Solutions inventories.
- Considers, discusses and/or implements new concepts when appropriate.
- Maintains the par-level inventory system.
- Generates patient and department billing, utilizing the pharmacy computer system.
- Runs end of the month computer reports and billing documents.
- Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy and IV storage facility.
- Reconciles IV medications and solutions with patient charts on a daily basis.
- Returns outdated medications to the manufacturer as directed and manages recalls.
- Works with nursing service and other departments that deliver medications to ensure safe delivery.
- Obtains and maintains active certification and all requirements with PTCB for active pharmacy technician certification.
- Assists the hospital to monitor and report Drug Utilization information, adverse drug reactions and medication administration events.
- Completes annual education, training, in-service, and certification requirements; attends departmental staff meetings or reads meeting minutes.
- Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred and be at least 16
- Must be able to legally work in the United States.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
- Must complete employee health meeting.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, unless Nationally Certified.
- Unencumbered License/Certification.
- PTCB or other National Certification within 1 year of hire.
Experience:
- Skills in Customer Service.
Position Classification: Non-exempt
Compensation Range: $18.48 to $25.85
