ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

Position-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:
o Greets patients and visitors.
o Facilitates communication within the unit and organization.
o Assists the healthcare team in accurately maintaining patient medical records.
o Assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the team to meet
the physical and emotional needs of the patient.
o Assists physicians and nurses and/or performs technical procedures delegated within the scope of practice.
o Utilize critical treatment skills such as phlebotomy, wound irrigation and dressing, EKGs, specimen
collection.
o Nursing Services Technician will work through a competency list to include patient care tech skills,
documentation, and all treatments or procedures listed above upon orientation to position.
o Observes and reports any changes in patient condition or behavior to the RN or physician.
o Assists with patient flow and keeping the department and patient rooms clean, stocked, and orderly.
o Performs clerical duties including admission orders, filling out appropriate forms, arranging for patient
transfers, and communicating with interdisciplinary teams.
o Answers the telephone in a polite manner and communicates information to the appropriate personnel or family.
o Directs calls to the appropriate person/department.
o Documents accurately and consciously the needs of the unit.
o Communicates clearly, honestly, appropriately, and in a timely manner with patients, families, and care team
members.
o Completes documentation with accuracy according to facility guidelines.
o Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fastpaced environment.
o Respects the confidentiality of patient information and adheres to HIPAA and facility guidelines.
o Demonstrates caring attitudes and behaviors to develop therapeutic relationships.
o Demonstrates respect, equity, and empathy in actions and interactions with culturally diverse and vulnerable patients.
o Demonstrates knowledge of facility safety procedures.

patients, the public, and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:
o Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions with a valid driver’s license).
o Must be able to legally work in the United States.
o Must be able to pass a background check.
o Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
o Must complete employee health meeting.
Preferred Education/Licensure/Certification:
o High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
o Licensed Practice Nurse License, Certified Nursing Aid License, EMT, or Medical Assistant preferred and license
must be unencumbered.
Required Certification:
o Current BLS certification (or must be obtained within 90 days).
Experience:
o Clerical experience preferred.
o Clinical bedside experience preferred
Position Classification: Non-exempt
Compensation Range: $17.50 to $22.19
