Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
Position Specific Performance Expectations:
o Demonstrates advanced knowledge of imaging procedures of at least two of the modalities listed below.
o Practices radiation safety and adheres to ALARA standards.
o Asks female patients if they are pregnant and protects them from harmful radiation.
o Performs QC in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
o Able to operate equipment consistent with manufacturer’s recommendations.
o Performs all exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols the exam with the Radiologist.
o Assists with clerical duties and patient transportation when required.
o Answers the telephone, directs calls, and accurately records messages as needed.
o Assists, trains, or cross-trains imaging staff members as directed.
o Completes equipment downtime form and immediately notifies manager of equipment issues.
o Flexible in rearranging work schedule to help fill in for emergencies, illnesses, and vacations.
o Must be self-motivated, use independent judgment, and be able to work with minimum supervision.
o Notifies Radiologist of all STAT or Emergent cases and provides ordering physician contact information.
o Obtains appropriate informed consents when required.
o Performs and documents medical history as it relates to the patient and the procedure.
o Positive and supportive team member to all staff members of the hospital.
o Responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory.
o Submits all written orders, registration documents, and required imaging forms to Health Information Management and the Radiologist.
o Troubleshoots equipment problems and independently calls service engineer if the malfunction needs outside maintenance.
o Verifies exam orders, identifies patient thru two means of identification, and provides exam education.
o Verifies that all relevant paperwork is completed and prior studies are available before submitting procedures to the Radiologist for interpretation.
o Works overtime as directed and takes call as required.
o May be required to obtain additional training or certification in order to meet the needs of the department.
o Assists or rotates to other imaging modalities when required and within the scope of held licensure and/or registry.
o Will be registered in at least two modalities.
o Assists with taking call, working holidays, and/or weekends.

o Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
o Reports to work on time as scheduled; completes work within designated timeframes.
o Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
o Strives to uphold regulatory requirements to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and policies.
o Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe environment for patients, public, and staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
o Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions)
o Must be able to legally work in the United States.
o Must be able to pass a background check.
o Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable)
o Must complete employee health meeting.

Required Education/Licensure/Certification:
o Must have 2 (or eligible for and obtain within 1 year of hire date) of the following registries: ARRT registration in Radiology (R), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR), Mammography (M), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), Sonography (S), ARDMS registration in Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
(RDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS), Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMTCB).
o Current BLS certification (or must be obtained within 90 days).

Experience:
o Prior experience as a practicing Technologist in any of the modalities listed above, 2 preferred.
o Technologist will be encouraged to cross-train to into other modalities including, but not limited to CT, MRI, DEXA, and Mammography.
o Effective communication.
o General knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.
o Ability to learn and work with all electronic records including PACS and RIS/HIS.

 

Position Classification:   Non-exempt

Compensation Range:  $29.38 to $44.06
