Full Job Description I Notes:
Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Operations, Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing building and maintenance tasks. Responsible for performing a variety of skilled duties in one or more of the building trades, such as painting, carpentry, minor electrical, cement masonry, drywall, or other recognized crafts for the purpose of maintaining, repairing and/or remodeling Goodwill leased and owned properties.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintains image standards and upkeep of tools and vehicles as needed.
- Assists in the inspection of building and other structures as required to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repairs, making notes and recommendations using a pre-established checklist.
- Complete assigned "Maintenance Work Requests" in a timely manner and in accordance with Goodwill standards.
- Documents work and purchase orders, travel times, materials list to account for materials purchased and times spent in completing work assigned.
- Assists with routine building preventative maintenance using a pre-established utilizing sound safety practices (i.e. lifting, use of equipment, etc.), and report accidents to team leader in a timely manner, in accordance with Goodwill safety procedures.
- Assists in minor electrical work to include (but not limited to) replacement or repair of fixtures (wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs / tubes, ballasts, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
- Assists in minor plumbing maintenance (replacement or repair of leaks, drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses and similar devices etc.).
- Assists with minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (preparing surfaces using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles etc.).
- Assists with assembly, reconfigures, installs, positions and mounts as necessary furniture, fixtures and equipment in Goodwill leased and owned properties.
- While performing above mentioned tasks, must leave work area clean and free of debris.
- Attend in-service and related training as assigned by team leader. May be asked to participate in activities outside of Goodwill.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Leadership. Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry repairs and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to learn, use and understand electronic devices and applicable software
- Evaluate and work on plumbing, minor HVAC, fire sprinkler, alarm, landscape irrigation, signs, painting, and pavement and communicate identified issues to Leadership.
- Evaluate work requests and recommended repairs and to understand and follow directions as given.
- Able to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move up to forty (40) pounds with no support regularly. Over forty (40) pounds request for additional team member assistance as necessary. Also climb ladders and stand and walk extensively.
Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
Work and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Education, Training and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a field related to Facilities Management, preferred.
