The essential job responsibilities of the Helper, Electric Distribution (Pre-Apprentice) includes preparing for entry into the Apprentice Lineman program by receiving on-the-job experience gained by performing manual duties associated with the construction/maintenance of electric cable and powerline distribution facilities. Employees selected for this position must progress to the Apprentice Lineman Program in six (6) months after entering this classification or be removed.
Qualification Requirements:
To perform the Helper, Electric Distribution (Pre-Apprentice) role you must:
- Have successfully completed an approved Electric Utility Construction course to include Basic Electricity and Pole Climbing
- Successfully complete Placement/Performance Exercises and Physical Abilities test
- Obtain a Class A CDL within 6 months of employment
Physical Working Conditions:
Works outside. Subject to weather, traffic, working in proximity of high voltages and hazards associated with construction work. Subject to storm or emergency work; heavy lifting/carrying; physical activities such as climbing, bending, balancing, kneeling, standing, reaching, pulling and pushing.
