What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor, Business Operations Services and Support position at Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division?
The role is responsible for overseeing the project and program management
office that consists of a cross-functional team including Senior Project
Coordinators, Project Coordinators, Customer Experience and Market Analysis
Analysts, Project Analysts, and Researchers. This role focuses on modernizing
and streamlining operational and technological processes within the Customer
Experience and Energy Services (CEES) division. Essential Functions: Lead and
advise project teams through all phases of project management, ensuring
alignment with organizational objectives. Facilitate project work from initiation to
closeout, including user testing, post-deployment evaluation, and necessary
amendments. Develop, maintain, and present project plans in collaboration with
cross-functional teams, outlining objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success
criteria. Integrate Lean Six Sigma methodologies into project work to drive
continuous improvement. Initiate and oversee process improvement, data
collection, and procurement projects. Maintain tasks, workflows, and processes
within designated work management and business intelligence database tools.
Ensure that data collection, analysis, and management principles are
incorporated into all project scopes and deliverables. Assist in crafting and
updating BOSS project and program governance standards, process
documentation, and stakeholder communications. Conduct scenario planning
and support business case preparation for various projects. Stay informed on
industry trends, technical solutions, policies, and regulations relevant to the
division’s work. Participate in product demonstrations. Write Requests for
Proposals/Qualifications (RFP/RFQ) and Scope of Work descriptions. Submit
contract requests and evaluate responses. Provide vendor oversight and track
expenditures. Present findings to stakeholders while ensuring adherence to
MLGW’s procurement policies. Engage and negotiate with stakeholders at all
levels to ensure alignment on project requirements, direction, and deliverables.
Conduct project initiation meetings and partner with MLGW shared service
teams for successful execution. Effectively communicate complex analytical
concepts and results to both technical and non-technical audiences. Develop
and/or source user training programs, create work instruction documents, and
provide post-project delivery support. Prepare and maintain comprehensive
project documentation and artifacts. Perform other duties as assigned.
Must have a valid driver's license from state of residence.
EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Market Research, Project
Management, Anthropology, Engineering, or a professionally related field is
required.
EXPERIENCE Two (2) to four (4) years of professional-level experience in process
improvement, project management, organizational development or related role.
Must demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency with computer applications such
as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI. Must have an occupationally
significant combination of job knowledge; excellent verbal/written communication
skills; problem solving and decision-making abilities; customer relations, and
resource management skills; a high level of integrity; and ability to work within a
team.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Must successfully complete NIMS training within 1 year of entering job. Must
complete Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training within 12 months of employment.
Project Management Professional certification (PMP) - Preferred. Physical
Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief
periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity
in operating office equipment. The position requires normal visual acuity and
field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities. THIS LIST OF ESSENTIAL
