SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Manages the department's data analysis program which informs the development of the District's long-term school optimization and capital planning documents, enrollment projections, attendance zone boundaries, and capacity utilization databases.

Essential Job Functions

Assures the availability of adequate facilities by assisting in the development of short and long-range plans, goals and projections for facilities based on building condition, student enrollment, community development, academic variables, and instructional program requirements.

Prepares annual enrollment projections for each school for Finance and Human Resources to create the District’s budget and staffing allocations. Prepares five and ten-year enrollment projections for planning purposes.

Researches and recommends new enrollment projection models and methods to the Director to ensure the District relies on the best model for a district with multiple enrollment influences (ASD, charter, high mobility, etc.).

Creates and maintains multiple databases related to enrollment, demographics, and academic performance to assist in boundary planning, student assignment and space optimization.

Works closely with the Strategy and Performance Management team to produce the Strategic Regional Analysis.

Researches and monitors regional development trends, analyzes construction/foreclosure databases, and attends Land Use Control and Board of Adjustment meetings to monitor potential enrollment losses or gains and predict student mobility.

Collects, interprets, and analyzes data used for informing the long-term school optimization and capital planning documents and updates.

Prepares and maintains a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, databases, and files related to assigned programs, projects, activities, and operations.

Prepares necessary reports and presentations for meetings with Administration and Shelby County School Board, and attends public forms and meetings, as required.

Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in City Planning or other related field plus an additional four (4) years related experience, or equivalent, for a total education/experience of eight (8) years.

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.

Must have 3 years of Law Enforcement or Security supervisory experience.
