SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent works collaboratively with the Executive Director of Safety and Security to formulate targets and goals for productivity, cost management and quality. The work involves responsibility for overseeing and supervising school buildings, grounds, and personnel/student security functions both during and after normal school hours. The primary emphasis in this position is to insure the presence of security officers to deter vandalism, breakage and unwarranted loitering on school property.

Essential Job Functions

Supervises direct reports as to effectively direct, recruit, train, motivate, delegate, monitor and evaluate their activities, including hiring, and disciplinary decisions.

Provides leadership and a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, resourcefulness, and competency in safety and security and is viewed as expert within the field.

Works with other professionals, and management to achieve system-wide result. May lead a team in the effort.

Identifies complex problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious, achieving quality and work process improvements.

Ensures that the workgroup’s goals and activities are in sync with and support the broader goals and objectives of the organization; and that the execution of responsibilities are in accordance to lawful and ethical standards.

Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondences, and files related to assigned service, activities, and operations; provide for appropriate research and compiles reports, as needed.

Develops policies and procedures for department in consultation with executive management to ensure efficient and economical departmental operations; evaluates results to ensure compliance to and identify deficiencies.

Researches and explores feasibility of implementing new methods, technologies or programs to increase the efficiency, effectiveness and accountability of departmental operations.

Develops, presents and defends budget requirements; oversees and approves departmental expenditures and prepares financial forms and reports.

Responsible for staffing, recruitment and development of the division.

Designs, submits and oversees contracts.

Create, develop and oversee RFP and RFQ’s working with Procurement for the division.

Set Goals and Objectives for the division.

Direct management to ensure the vision of the organization is followed.

Research and submit proposals for State and Federal Grants.

Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or relevant field plus an additional seven (7) years related law enforcement/security experience, or equivalent, for a total education/experience of eleven (11) years.

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience.
