Purpose and Scope
This position is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware/software and related infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions
1. Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems.
2. Installs new and rebuilds existing services. Configures hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
3. Serves as technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems
4. Develops, recommends, and maintains the installation, redesign and configuration procedures of operating systems and applications.
5. Performs daily system monitoring. Verifies the integrity and availability of all hardware, service resources, systems and key processes. Reviews system and application logs and verifies completion of scheduled jobs.
6. Establishes guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems, disk arrays, fiber channel switches, tape libraries and other components.
7. Manages the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment such as air-conditioning system, uninterrupted power system (UPS) and fire protection.
8. Researches and recommends innovated and/or automat3d approaches for system administration tasks
9. Performs troubleshooting and leads problem-solving efforts involving outside vendors and support personnel
10. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or a related field; PLUS four (4) years related experience in related field; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience totaling eight (8) years.
Degree Equivalency Formula:Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
