What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiologist (Non-Invasive) Physician Opportunity position at Memphis VA Medical Center-Department of Veterans Affairs?
The Memphis VA Medical Center has an opening for a Non-Invasive Cardiologist with a dual academic appointment with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). The position reports directly to the Chief of Specialty Medicine. The Staff Cardiologist will be responsible for providing consultation on various forms of cardiovascular disease states for both diagnosis and treatment of inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition to clinical practice, the Staff Cardiologist will be responsible for supervising and teaching Cardiology Fellows, Residents, and Medical Students.

It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. Duties include but are not limited to :
- Inpatient consultation, outpatient general cardiology clinic, and interpretation of non-invasive cardiac tests such as Transthoracic Echocardiogram, Transesophageal Echocardiogram, ETT, Nuclear Stress tests, Ziopath, Holters, Cardiac CTs, Cardiac MRIs, and EKGs.
- Share attending call responsibilities with other Cardiologists in covering some nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Round with a team of Residents and Fellows on occasion and perform emergency procedures on patients in the ICU or when required in the Emergency Department or Operating Room.
- Lead and manage the Cardiology / Coronary Care Unit (CCU) team consisting of Cardiology Fellows, Internal Medicine Residents, Medical Students, Pharmacists, and Mid-level Providers while on inpatient service.
- Give didactic lectures to Cardiology Fellows and participate in academic activities such as journal reviews, grand rounds, and conferences. Requirements :
- MD / DO
- BE / EC in Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology
- Eligible for a Faculty Appointment at UTHSC
- Full and unrestricted license from ANY state
- US Citizenship
- Be proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language
