Summary:
The Cashier/Food Stand Operator is responsible for preparing and serving food and drinks to our guests, following health and safety standards, and keeping the work area clean and tidy. You will also interact with customers, take orders, handle payments, and provide excellent customer service.
Essential Job Functions
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Food & Beverage Manager.
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work
Seasonal positions are defined as temporary work to meet an organization’s temporary needs during certain times of the year and can last up to 6 months. This position can be scheduled to work approximately up to 40 hours per week. Scheduling is at the discretion of the manager. This position is considered non-exempt under the federal and state wage and hour laws.
This position regularly requires flexible hours including weekdays, holidays, and weekends including early morning, daytime, and evening hours to provide coverage during Zoo hours of operation.
Work Environment
The Zoo has multiple restaurants and food stands across its grounds. Work environment may vary from outdoor food stand to indoor restaurant setting. The work setting is busy and dynamic.
Physical Demands
This position requires frequent standing/walking/bending and may occasionally move or lift objects up to 30 pounds.

- Provide information about menu items, promotions, and special offers to guests as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the work area.
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues in a professional way.
- Serve food and drinks to customers in a timely and courteous manner.
- Assist with restocking merchandise and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the cashiering area.
- Assist with the daily set-up and closure of assigned location.
- 1 year of customer service experience.
- Prior experience in a similar role.
- Guest focus.
- Communication proficiency.
- Teamwork orientation.

- Time management.
