Summary:

The Rides/Seasonal Exhibits Team Lead is responsible for motivating our team members to achieve and surpass expectation while following the Zoo's guidelines for safety and guest satisfaction, train new team members, communicate with management and other team leads, problem solving, and showing initiative. This department is responsible for cashiers and operations of seasonal attractions, such as antique kiddie rides, the Farm Train, trams, animal-interaction exhibits, and the Monogram Splash Park.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide leadership to employees by emphasizing safety, cleanliness and guest service.
  • Ensure safe operation of all rides, including following safety guidelines and reporting potential hazards as needed.
  • Handle guest complaints and concerns in a professional manner.
  • Provide training and proper tools for team members to complete duties.
  • Assign tasks in an effective manner, using each team members' strengths.
  • Provide direction to associates regarding schedule, breaks, and ride operation/rotation.
  • Ensure that employees are complying with company policy and procedure.
  • Communicate daily updates to department manager and team leads.
  • General administration duties.
  • Will perform the job of Rider Operator when needed.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • 2 years guest service related experience.
  • Previous cash handling experience in entertainment, sports, or hospitality organization.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 1-2 years post secondary education.
  • 2 years in hospitality industry or related field.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position supervises 10-15 ride operators that report to the Rides Manager.

Reporting Structure: Reports to Rides Manager.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full time position that regularly requires flexible hours including weekdays, holidays, and weekends including early morning, daytime, and evening hours to provide coverage during Zoo hours of operation.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee primarily works outdoors on Zoo grounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals and vibrations. The work environment is fast-paced and may involve exposure to warmer or colder temperatures. Employees should be prepared to work in a busy, moderately loud, and dynamic setting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
