Summary:
The Splash Park Attendant oversees the guest safety and enjoyment of Splash Park, including monitoring the park’s operation, enforcing rules, assisting children and parents, and maintaining the cleanliness and order of the park.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain constant supervision, recognizing dangerous/hazardous situations and taking immediate action in prevention or responding to emergencies, including performing artificial respiration and CPR/AED, or First Aid when necessary.
- Enforce all safety regulations and stay current with safety rules and procedures.
- Provide customer service to guests, including answering questions and providing assistance.
- Maintain the cleanliness and order of the splash park area, including cleaning surfaces and picking up debris.
- Collect tickets or payments for entry.
- Support and perform daily opening and closing duties.
- Relieving other team members for breaks.
- Review and adhere to required operating and safety manuals, completed required training.
- Attendants must give undivided attention to the splash park at all times. Under no circumstances may the attendant leave their post while on duty.
- Employees in this role may provide coverage to other operating attractions, as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- 1 year relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
- General knowledge of water safety.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 1 year experience in an aquatic or water park environment.
Skills/Behavior:
- Knowledge of, and ability to appropriately apply, principles and practices of lifesaving procedures.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to react quickly, calmly and appropriately in emergencies.
- Ability to see and hear sufficiently to ensure safety of patrons.
- Skill and physical ability in resuscitation and First Aid.

Reporting Structure: Reports to Rides Manager, Team Leads.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Seasonal positions are defined as temporary work to meet an organization’s temporary needs during certain times of the year and can last up to 6 months. This position can be scheduled to work approximately up to 40 hours per week. Scheduling is at the discretion of the manager. This position is considered non-exempt under the federal and state wage and hour laws.
This position regularly requires flexible hours including weekdays, holidays, and weekends including early morning, daytime, and evening hours to provide coverage during Zoo hours of operation.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee works outdoors within the Splash Park on Zoo grounds. The work environment is fast-paced and will involve exposure to wet conditions as well as hot, humid, or inclement weather. Employees should be prepared to work in a busy, moderately loud, and dynamic setting.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. The employee is constantly required to hear and understand conversations, detect specific noises, and communicate verbally with others in person, on the phone, and to yell when required. Must also be able to visually monitor Splash Pad guests.
The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
