Job Summary: At the direction and control of the Director or immediate supervision of the nursing staff, the person holding this position assists professional nursing staff by performing routine duties in care of patients.
Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: One-year experience preferred. BLS (CPR) certified.
Physical Requirements: Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to:
- Reaching and grasping with arms and hands
- Proofreading and checking documents for accuracy
- Using a keyboard to enter or transform words or data
- Hearing in normal and soft tones
- Ability to communicate orally, read and understand spoken and written English words and sentences
- Ability to communicate with others by telephone and e-mail
- Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and with little direct supervision in planning and organizing workload
- Ability to judge the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- May assist with patient transfer, daily care, and other basic hygiene duties.
- Assists with documentations on patients as necessary.
- Maintains standards required by regulatory entities.
- Provides one-on-one patient care to prevent harm to verifiable patients when needed.
- Responsible for assisting in the admission, discharge and transport of patients.
- Providing patients with emotional support.
- Monitoring patients' vital signs.
- Detecting changes in condition of patients and alerting licensed staff.
- Alerting licensed staff when patients need assistance.
- Can be assigned to all units as needs arise.
- Maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
- Ability to use common cleaning appliances
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Assists with providing environmental services when needed.
- Ability to use good judgment and work independently
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and be organized
- Ability to complete basic checklist within six months after the date of hire
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Required to work evenings, nights, and/or weekends on a regular or as needed basis
- Receives or properly obtains specimens for laboratory analysis, primarily by venipuncture but also by other means
- Performs select routine laboratory tests as needed
- Ensures that tests are performed accurately and efficiently
- Ensures phlebotomy carts are kept clean and disinfected
- Assists in keeping an appropriate inventory of supplies and restocks cart as needed
- Understands relationship of proper specimen collection to patient outcome
