Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Lead Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations as well as contract specifications. This role involves conducting inspections at various construction sites, analyzing data, and providing quality control throughout the construction process. The Construction Lead Inspector will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and safety of construction projects and lead other inspectors.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
· Maintain project files such as Daily Work Reports (DWR’s), Progress Reports and performs general office administration.
· Measure and confirm work quantities for pay applications.
· Review and observe materials testing; Verify the quality materials used for conformance with the contract, plans, and specifications.
· Able to understand/interpret engineering drawings, plans, specifications, contracts, and project documents for roadway, drainage, utilities, and/or structural highway construction.
· Participates in project-level meetings as required. Meets with client as needed.
· Document daily work activities of contractor including production, manpower, equipment, and weather conditions to include any deficiencies and deviations from plans and specifications.
· Ensure that all noted construction deficiencies and plan deviations are properly communicated to Project Team, documented on proper forms and corrected as directed by client and/or Engineer.
· Provides status reports to PM/ CM(s) on routine basis both verbally and in writing as required.
· Recognize and report problems in their area(s) of responsibility, and work with the contractor to achieve compliance with the plans and specification.
· Intimately familiar with environmental concerns related to a project and ability to monitor contractor compliance with the environmental controls.
· Collect and organize documentation required to support payment for Work completed (delivery tickets, rebar tags, invoices, etc.)
· Familiar with the submittal and RFI process
· Determines the priority of assignments based on critical deadlines that must be met.
· Manages multiple concurrent inspection assignments on a single project.
· Communicates effectively in writing and orally with contractors, client, and staff.
· Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· 5 years of construction inspection
· Ability to lift 25 lbs.
· Ability to work outside and traverse uneven/unstable terrain.
· Basic computer literacy such as sending email correspondence and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Valid Driver’s License in good standing
Preferred Qualifications:
· TXDOT project experience
· City Project experience
· License/Certification: ACI Level I or II, Type 1A or 1B Asphalt Certifications preferred but not required.
· Material Testing understanding
