What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Counselor position at Mendocino Coast Clinics?
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Behavioral Health Counselor will be responsible for evaluating and determining courses of treatment for their assigned clients. They will:
- Treat all ages from Age six to adult
- Coordinate all aspects of the client’s treatment and provide ongoing counseling.
- Actively participate in ongoing program evaluation.
- Be able to diagnose the client and follow through with required paperwork of the program as follows.
o Fully written assessment of the client.
o Complete diagnosis using DSMIV protocols
o Use the ICDM9 for primary diagnosis for billing purposes
o Maintain patient records, according to Clinic protocols
o Maintain knowledge of community resources and programs and make appropriate referrals as required.
Requirements:
Possess a current and active license as an LCSW or MFT to practice counseling in the State of California- Must have the education and at least one year experience in treating children age 6 and up.
·· Must demonstrate recent experience in Behavioral Health and/or agency setting
- Must be able to assess for suicidality and make appropriate referrals per California State law
