What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Paraprofessional Alternative Education Juvenile Hall position at Mendocino County Office Of Education?
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Principal of Alternative Education, assist certificated staff in the instruction, supervision and training of individual or groups of high-risk adjudicated or incarcerated students by performing a variety of training and/or instructional support activities and perform related duties, as assigned. This position provides a variety of instructional/training support activities related to the classroom, learning center, vocational program and other instructional programs. Incumbents may work with non/limited English speaking or special education students. The Mendocino County Office of Education is a public agency whose primary purpose is to provide educational leadership, resources and services to schools to ensure wide-ranging educational opportunities for all students. This mission is accomplished through cooperative efforts with teachers, school districts, families, and communities; through direct instructional programs and administrative services; and through coordination with the California Department of Education and other agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Associate of Arts Degree or 48 units from an accredited institution, or passing score on a locally-administered proficiency exam;
• Demonstrated experience in using judgment in high pressure situations;
• Two (2) years of instructional assistant experience, working with high-risk, adjudicated or incarcerated youth, is desirable;
• Bilingual is desirable;
• Incumbents may be required to possess valid First-Aid and CPR Certificates;
• Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver License;
• Provide proof of automobile insurability;
• Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
