Strip Pullers (Production Line Workers)  Wanted!!  (Entry Level)!  This is a non exempt position, starting Hourly Rate: $23.87 and includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401K match

Humboldt Sawmill Company (HSC) is looking for talented individuals to join our Scotia, CA Sawmill Swing Shift  team. 

In aggregate, The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Collectively providing 950 employees and their families with excellent wages and benefits in communities throughout the Western USA. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.

Responsibilities

Ensure constant production flow by performing relief positions in the manufacturing or distribution facility in a safe and productive manner.

• Perform a wide variety of jobs and duties in a relief capacity and or assignment, with a high level of proficiency and accuracy.
• Drive forklift to transfer lumber units from stacker outfeed to green yard.
• Operate the Stacker to stack lumber units in solid packages or stack lumber on sticks for drying depending on final destination.
• Regularly check machines and make adjustments as necessary based on lumber sizes.
• Operate Bobcat to transport debris to conveyors or disposal site.
• Keep equipment and work area clean.
• Work toward proficiency in additional positions for machine center operations
• Performs scheduled inspections on equipment and delivers reports as required for management and maintenance personnel.
• Communicate regularly with other team members and participates in team effort in the work area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Three years related experience and/or training preferred.
• One year equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.
• Must maintain and carry a valid California driver license and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles, including automobiles and trucks, in accordance with company policy guidelines
• A person in this position must have basic keyboarding skills

Physical Requirements 

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, hunch, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
• The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.
• The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral and ability to adjust focus
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration
• The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. 
• The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; and risk of electrical shock
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
• This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety goggles/glasses, safety shoes, hard hat, and rubber apron
