Job Summary
The Patient Access Representative oversees the patient’s journey and coordinates care with advanced practice providers, community engagement directors, patients, and care partners. The primary duties of a Patient Access Representative are managing patient referrals, verifying medical insurance coverage and benefits, working with patients to schedule appointments, and coordination of care with all stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient and provider relations for specified market teams.
- Manage patient intake for specified market teams.
- Prioritize referrals by clinical acuity and address them within 24 hours of receipt.
- Promptly respond to patients and care partners.
- Prepare and maintain electronic patient charts.
- Verify medical insurance coverage and benefits.
- Review referrals to confirm or obtain insurance authorization.
- Anticipate, gather, and send information to insurance carriers and providers to obtain referral or prior authorization.
- Schedule patient appointments and follow-ups.
- Collaborate and communicate with internal team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders in assigned markets.
- Host market huddle meetings providing updates on patient status.
- Enter and maintain incoming patient referrals in customer relationship management software.
- Share relevant patient records with external care partners.
Education and Experience
- Experience in patient access, healthcare administration, or revenue cycle management required.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR software required.
- Prior insurance verification and referral experience required.

Qualifications
- Proficient in medical administrative support and patient service
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office and EMR systems
- Experience in medical office management and insurance verification
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and CPT coding
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
