- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers regarding student performance.
- Collaborate with educators to develop engaging curriculum tailored for students with special needs.
- Utilize techniques such as Montessori methods or American Sign Language as appropriate for individual student requirements.
- Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education.
Qualifications
- Experience or training in behavior management strategies is preferred.
- Familiarity with Montessori principles is a plus.
- Knowledge of American Sign Language is beneficial for effective communication with some students.
- Understanding of IEP processes and experience working with preschool-aged children is desired.
- Background in curriculum development tailored for special education settings is advantageous.
- Experience in childcare or working with individuals with developmental disabilities, particularly autism, is highly valued.
- Proficiency in basic math skills to assist students in their academic pursuits.
