Grocery & Wellness Team Position Description

STATUS: Part Time Hourly

PAY SCALE: Pay Level A

REPORTS TO: Grocery & Wellness Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The Grocery & Wellness team member contributes to store readiness through receiving, stocking, conditioning, and excellent customer service. This position assists the Grocery and Wellness department to meet objectives for sales, labor, and our Ends Statement, which is to be central to thriving, healthy communities.

DELIVERABLES:

This position: 

• Stocks and maintains the grocery, wellness, bulk, frozen, refrigerated, beer and wine, and general merchandise subdepartments.
• Provides excellent service to owners, shoppers, co-workers, and vendors. 
• Follows MMFC standards for safety and cleanliness. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

I. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INTERNAL SERVICE

• Provide excellent customer service to our shoppers, making customers’ needs the priority whenever on the sales floor or answering the phone.
• Share information with our shoppers about MMFC happenings, educational opportunities, and the benefits of co-op ownership.
• Provide excellent internal customer service to all staff members, maintaining an attitude of goodwill toward oneself and others.
• Help to create a work environment that is cooperative, fun, productive, and safe, and that focuses on solutions instead of problems.
• Work to resolve any customer complaints or issues with appropriate department manager and any internal conflicts directly.

II. STOCKING AND RECEIVING

• Assist with deliveries and stock product following department procedures.
• Maintain attractive, fully stocked, rotated, and faced sections and displays.
• Pull short-date, low quality, or contaminated items and follow established procedures for recording and disposal.
• Perform storekeeping functions such as fronting, facing, and cleaning.
• Carry out established opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain department areas in clean, safe, orderly condition, meeting health department standards.

III. MISCELLANEOUS

• Assist customers by answering questions about products. Offer samples and suggestions for purchase and use of products, as appropriate.
• Contact customers when their special orders are ready for pickup.
• Participate in inventory counts and department resets.
• Attend department meetings and storewide meetings.
• Perform other tasks assigned.

• Previous experience in stocking and receiving preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple demands.
• Ability to communicate respectfully, clearly, and completely.

• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to stand, squat, reach, kneel, and move throughout shift. 
• Ability to work in cold conditions.
• Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
• Regular, predictable attendance.
• Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
