We are looking for a qualified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to work with patients of all ages with a range of psychological difficulties and complex life experiences. Psychological difficulties include mood disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety, aggression, learning difficulties ADHD and autism. A professionally trained Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner helps patients recover from or manage mental illness by skillful management of psychotropic medication. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will complete diagnostic assessments, perform regular psychiatric exams with his/ her caseload, maintain up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based-practice, and be able to work cordially with a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications
Masters or doctoral prepared graduates of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program in psychiatric mental health.
Additional qualifications
Possess ability to work independently/autonomously and interdependently with other health care professionals. Have extensive patient assessment skills using diagnostic methods and instruments and possess ability to develop appropriate plan of care, modifying as indicated. Possess effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with patients, families and members of health care team.

- Join a behavioral health team with psychiatry and therapy colleagues.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments, make diagnoses, and provide treatment to individuals with psychiatric problems
- Work with patient's and their family by advising them on mental health care and lifestyle choices
- Provides a full range of primary mental health care services to individuals, families, and communities
- Prescribes and manages medication when medically necessary
- 12-15 Patients per day
- 15-minute med checks and one-hour new consults
Essential Functions
- Utilize electronic health record system (EHR)
- Document all client correspondence within 24 hours and document all patient encounters within 72 hours
- Maintain licensure, DEA certification, malpractice insurance, and adhere to all Nebraska state and National Board certification requirements
- Obtains and interprets laboratory tests
- Assesses patient database and identifies biopsychosocial needs.
- Recognizes deviations from normal in-body systems and refers to appropriate medical/social resources.
- Initiates and manages preventative healthcare services.
- Provides relevant counseling and education to patients and significant others within role limitations.
