The Part-Time Cabarrus Outreach Specialist will assist the Cabarrus County Community Outreach Manager in expanding MHA's presence in the community. This bilingual (Spanish / English) role involves building relationships with local stakeholders—including government, businesses, schools, and faith-based organizations—and promoting MHA’s programs and services. The specialist will help raise awareness, enhance mental wellness initiatives, and identify new opportunities for MHA outreach in Cabarrus County. This position provides up to 20 hours of work per week, with 80% of the hours scheduled during regular business hours.
Requirements :
1. Community Engagement & Networking : 60%
Assist the Cabarrus County Community Outreach Manager in establishing and maintaining relationships with community organizations, local government officials, business leaders, faith communities, and schools.
Provide logistical and administrative support for community meetings, events, and outreach activities as directed.
Represent MHA at community events and forums, focusing on visibility and support for MHA’s services, under the supervision of the Outreach Manager.
Help with the coordination and execution of outreach activities, ensuring all tasks are aligned with the Outreach Manager’s strategic plan.
2. Program Support : 20%
Support the Outreach Manager in organizing and promoting QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention Training and Mental Health First Aid Training sessions.
Collaborate with the MHA Education Team to handle logistics and participant coordination for training events.
Assist with planning and executing program-related activities in support of MHA’s initiatives, including ParentVOICE, Education, Compeer, and Counseling, ensuring alignment with clear directives provided by supervisors.
3. Resource & Referral Assistance : 10%
Respond to inquiries via phone and email regarding MHA services and community resources, providing accurate information under the guidance of the Outreach Manager.
Offer basic information and referral support to connect individuals and organizations to appropriate mental health services.
4. Administrative Support : 10%
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of outreach activities, community contacts, and meetings.
Provide administrative support for the planning and promotion of outreach and fundraising events, ensuring all details are executed as directed.
Manage logistical tasks such as tracking travel mileage, completing payroll paperwork, and preparing materials for events.
Assist with data collection and reporting for Cabarrus-specific programs, ensuring all efforts are documented and shared for evaluation.
5. Flexibility & Availability : Ongoing
Maintain a flexible schedule, including availability for occasional evenings and weekends, as required for community meetings or outreach activities.
Travel within Cabarrus County and surrounding areas as necessary, supporting community engagement efforts under the direction of the Outreach Manager.
Qualifications :
Associate’s degree in human services, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
2 to 3 years of experience in community outreach, public relations, or program coordination is highly preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish / English) with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable speaking effectively to groups of community members, service providers, and stakeholders.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, email communication, and conducting internet research.
Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Requirements :
Familiarity with mental health issues and services is a plus, though not mandatory.
Physical Demands & Work Environment :
Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 pounds, including setting up and breaking down event equipment like outdoor tent, folding table and chairs.
Work is performed in an office or community setting with a moderate noise level.
