Job Description
Applicants must have the capacity to work closely within a team setting with clients, to assist in problem solving and daily living activities, assess service needs, liaison with the community agencies and coordinate treatment and provide advocacy. Strong written and verbal communications skills a must. Must have a valid driver’s license. Looking for candidate with a certificate in American Sign Language.
QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in Human Services; or NYS teacher's certificate for which a bachelor's degree is required; or NYS licensure and registration as Registered Nurse and Bachelor's Degree; or a Bachelor's level education in any field with five years of experience working directly with persons with behavioral health diagnoses; or a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC).
EXPERIENCE:Two years providing direct services to people with serious mental illness, developmental disabilities or substance use disorders; or experience in linking individuals with serious mental illness, developmental disabilities or substance abuse disorders to a broad range of services essential to successful living in a community setting (e.g.medical, psychiatric, social, educational, legal,. housing and financial services). A master's degree in one of the qualifying education fields may be substituted for one year of experience.
