Job Title: Drop-In Program Assistant
Reports to: Director of Programs
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Travel: None
Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7:30am – 4:00pm. Possibly the first Friday of the month 7:30am -4:00pm. First Monday (Staff Meeting) of the month 9:30am-1:30pm
Job Summary: The Drop-In Program Assistant provides support to participants and other program staff. This program is open to participants three days a week in a social and learning environment. It is a safe, recovery-oriented opportunity for adults with mental illness. Candidate must be able to act with a focus on boundaries, ethics, and confidentiality. We serve breakfast and lunch to the group of about 15, they do recreational activities, have learning opportunities, and like to have fun.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to actively work in a non-judgmental fashion.
- Able to research and share information about appropriate resources.
- Help prepare breakfast and lunch on a rotating basis.
- Eat lunch with the program participants.
- Help keep current and accurate files (example; Intake, Emergency Contacts).
- Help with simple job education activities.
- Maintain a clean program area along with assisting with stipend workers.
- Organize and assist with activities.
- Plan and conduct support groups/activities.
- Collect information for data reports.
- Remain calm if there is an emergency such as medical.
- Shop for program supplies.
- Work with supervisor to determine needed changes and how to implement.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Cultural sensitivity for working with diverse populations.
- Punctual with strong attendance history.
- Sound judgment.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- Computer knowledge, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
- May be a Peer Support Specialist or have an Associate degree in a mental health related field.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: Up to $14.00 per hour
