What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator I Youth MOVE Program position at Mental Health Association of Oklahoma?
The Coordinator I Youth MOVE Program will establish and maintain working relationships with the Children’s Behavioral Health Partnership members. This position will manage a diverse group of practitioners and mental health professionals within a designated geographic area, with the intent of promoting prevention, early intervention, and improved access and outcomes in the behavioral health system. The Youth Mental Health Coordinator will be expected to have excellent meeting facilitation, public speaking, and presentation skills with ability to quickly build rapport and coordinate multiple demands at one time. This role requires significant skill in multitasking, prioritizing, effective communication, and diplomacy in order to effectively manage a diverse group serving a vulnerable population of children, youth, and families.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain an effective Children’s Behavioral Health Partnership, Youth Motivating Others through Voices of Experience (MOVE) Chapter, and family advisory group.
- Manage with diplomacy to maintain positive relationships with and between leaders in systems of care (including but not limited to mental health agencies, juvenile justice, education).
- Engage and collaborate with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals and communities that are not just defined by race or ethnicity, but also socio-economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical and mental ability, age, veteran status, and other marginalized populations.
- Familiar working within the parameters of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
- Complete tasks in a reliable and timely fashion.
- Must be familiar with data collection and analysis in order to identify relevant trends and quantify results.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, human relations, management, or related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in counseling, social work, human relations, management, or related field/equivalent experience.
- establish and maintain an effective Community Team, Youth Motivating Others through Voices of Experience (MOVE) Chapter, and family advisory group to assist with the successful integration and connections into mental health and substance use networks throughout Oklahoma.
- Act as an intermediary for the Community Team and Youth MOVE Chapter in the event of conflict, serving to mediate between members to try to bring about an agreement or reconciliation.
- Collaborate to sustain and expand the Community Team and Youth MOVE Chapter with other advocacy groups and mental health and substance abuse providers.
- Engage the community, youth, young adult, and family groups to expand effectiveness and impact across the community and state levels to effect change.
- A strong candidate would be an innovative and creative thinker who is able to work collaboratively as part of a larger team. A strong candidate would also have previous experience working with youth and/or within the mental health field.
- Shows initiative, consistency, and drive to deliver timely information related to the mental health screening results of youth.
- Possesses interpersonal skills and judgement with which to represent the Association appropriately across all settings, especially in presence, communication, and professionalism.
- Ability to work in a supervisory capacity and manage a team to delegate schedules and enforce consistent and timely screenings utilizing best practices and in compliance with MOU and state guidelines.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills with ability to quickly build rapport and present educational and screening processes to varied populations.
- Must be available and regularly engage with school personnel and external community partners.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and presentation systems.
WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work is performed in climate-controlled office setting, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is unlikely.
- Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of aggregate residential living, including multiple conversations, ringing phones, intercom announcements.
- Resident staff will report any environmental hazards encountered in normal performance of job duties and will not handle or otherwise be exposed to hazardous conditions.
- Work requires a flexible work schedule.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally.
- Physical ability to move 25 pounds.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and staff and/or resident behavior.
- Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time.
