The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Rochester Psychiatric Center (RPC) is seeking a qualified candidate for the non-competitive policy position of Equal Opportunity Specialist 1, G-18.Under the direction of the Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 1 (Quality Management), the qualified candidate for Equal Opportunity Specialist 1 (EOS 1) will be responsible for fostering and promoting a culture change at RPC creating an environment where diversity is respected and celebrated. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: ? Act as the Cultural Competency Diversity and Respect (CCDR) Committee chair.? Provide RPC leadership and OMH’s Central Office with client and community feedback on how patient’s diverse needs are assessed and discuss Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity (DEI) initiatives to improve health care equity. ? Work with RPC leadership to develop an equity-focused community of practice where policy development and decision making are assessed with a recognition of implicit bias and strategies to alleviate such bias.? Establish community connections to promote equitable access to mental health services and manage events that are focused on improving recipient care with direct focus on historically marginalized populations.? Act as chair of the DEI section of the facility strategic plan to help identify cultural service gaps and health care disparities by a stratifying quality and safety data using sociodemographic characteristics of RPC’s population to help improve employee and recipient satisfaction. ? Research, apply and promote diversity initiatives and share best practices. ? Work with Staff Development and Training to develop and facilitate employee cultural competency trainings and develop relevant programming to enhance employee’s cultural awareness (systemic racism, Modern Leadership Workshop) acts as DEI representation in interviews training.? Provide advice, guidance, and support on equity and diversity issues. Liaise with community groups and other relevant organizations (police, local councils, community providers, cultural groups) and maintain up to date knowledge of anti-discriminatory legislation. ? Act as the liaison between RPC and Central Office to ensure RPC implements the Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goal 16: Improve Health Care Equity, as it applies to RPC.? Work with other departments (cabinet, Human Resources, Safety Department, Work Control) to write, update, implement and review policies. Prepare and deliver hearing voices training to staff, stakeholders, and partner organizations. ? Attend OMH Cultural Competence Diversity and Respect, and Language Access meeting to discuss and plan for agency initiatives and regulatory requirements.? Compile annual Board of Visitors reports on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee.? Manage the completion of the bi-annual Agency Cultural Competence Assessment. ? Collaborate with Human Resources and participates in the interview process with potential new employees to promote equitable hiring processes.
