Position Summary:
The Director of Advancement will drive the strategy, planning, and hands-on execution of fundraising and communications initiatives to propel Mental Health Partnerships' (MHP) mission and vision forward. This role involves actively leading donor cultivation, grant writing, fundraising campaigns, event planning, and organizational branding to achieve MHP’s financial and visibility objectives. Working collaboratively across departments, the Director will craft compelling narratives that inspire funders, engage partners, and connect with the community, increasing awareness and fostering meaningful support for MHP’s programs and services. This position will offer an annual salary range of $95,000 to $105,000.
- Design and implement an annual fundraising strategy, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, grants, and events, to meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Oversee and perform grant writing and reporting processes, ensuring timely submission of proposals and compliance with funder requirements. Identify and secure new grant opportunities, particularly unrestricted funding sources.
- Plan and execute signature fundraising events, including the annual Bell of Hope Celebration and other donor-focused events.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive donor and volunteer database, ensuring accurate tracking of donor history and relationships.
- Collaborate with the VP of Advocacy and Advancement to identify new fundraising opportunities and develop innovative revenue streams.
- Coordinate a system for the VP and CEO to cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors. Lead efforts to cultivate and steward relationships with foundations, ensuring consistent engagement and communication across all stakeholders
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy to increase MHP’s visibility and promote its mission.
- Oversee branding and messaging, ensuring consistency across all organizational platforms and materials.
- Manage digital marketing efforts, including website content, email campaigns, and social media platforms, to engage diverse audiences and drive engagement.
- Develop press releases, newsletters, impact reports, and other collateral to highlight MHP’s core pillars Direct Service, Advocacy, Education.
- Supervise and mentor the Development and Communications team, including staff, volunteers and contractors/vendors, to meet organizational goals.
- Work collaboratively with the Advocacy, Programs, and Advancement teams to align messaging and fundraising efforts.
- Partner with the CEO, VP of A&A, and Board of Directors to support fundraising and communication initiatives, including providing regular updates and reports on progress.
- Create sustainable systems and workflows that ensure efficiency and effectiveness across development and communication functions.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, grant writing, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred, but equivalent professional experience (12 years) will be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree.
- At least 7-10 years of experience in fundraising, public relations, or communications, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or management position.
- Experience and proven success with donor cultivation, grant writing, event planning, and developing innovative fundraising campaigns.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and pitches.
- Proficiency in digital marketing and donor database platforms (e.g., Little Green Light)
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising staff and working collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to seamlessly transition between strategic planning and hands-on execution.
- Passion for MHP’s mission and commitment to advancing mental health advocacy and peer-led culture.
- Familiarity with the human services funding landscape, including government grants and foundations.
- Experience in advocacy-focused nonprofit organizations.
- Knowledge of branding and public relations strategies.
