Description
Responsible for providing individual/family therapy to clients diagnosed with severe mental illnesses to help them cope with behavioral, mental, and emotional and substance use problems. The major purpose of a clinical therapist is to provide a safe environment for clients to process through their thoughts/feelings and educate them by helping them understand their diagnosis/issue and how to utilize alternative behaviors to cope.

Compensation Starting Range: $38,000-$60,000 Depending on Experience and License

• Provides crisis interventions and consults with members of the clinical team to provide the best care to clients.
• Assesses and evaluates potential risks for a higher level of care placements in various environments.
• Manages progress notes for all clients to ensure proper documentation of session content and interventions used throughout the counseling process.
• Identifies and diagnoses psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues throughout the counseling process; monitors client progress through regular sessions and team meetings.
• Conducts mental health evaluations within the local emergency department to evaluate potential risk factors to ensure the safety of patients, consults with members of the medical team, and completes required documentation within 24 hours.
• Conducts interviews, completes crisis assessments, and enhanced clinical assessments to evaluate potential risk factors for a higher level of care placements to acute inpatient facilities, residential treatment centers, and rehabilitation programs.
• Develops and implements treatment plans, safety plans, and therapeutic processes to help clients achieve resiliency.
• Educates clients using psychoeducation to understand their diagnosis, symptoms, patterns, and how to demonstrate and utilize adaptive coping skills to manage symptoms independently.
• Helps and supports clients as they define goals and action plans to achieve personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment.
• Documents progress notes of session content and interventions utilized throughout the counseling process.
• Consults with members of the clinical team and various departments including psychiatric services, comprehensive community supportive service (CCSS), and CareLink to ensure the best treatment for the clients served.
• Provide group therapy to a variety of populations as needed.
• Manages caseloads to ensure clients are being compliant with treatment recommendations.
• Generates documentation for the criminal justice system to include probation officers and judges and develop open access letters to re-engage clients in their treatment.
• Maintains competency of evidence-based practices, skills, and interventions via conferences or webinars and attending trainings.
• Maintain HIPPA and client confidentiality at all times.
• Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.
