The Mental Illness Recovery Center (MIRCI) is a non-profit organization that assists homeless individuals, both adults and youth, with clinical needs and permanent housing and is seeking a Practice Manager.
JOB FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the chief clinical officer, the practice manager is responsible for overseeing practice management and billing functions to ensure the agency's efficient financial operations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES NEEDED:
- Extensive knowledge of medical billing/coding, revenue cycle management, and provider credentialing.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, particularly Cerner and Epic, including report generation and workflow optimization.
- In-depth understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance carriers' billing requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address claim rejections and financial discrepancies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative staff.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Billing and Financial Management
- Oversee and manage the entire billing revenue cycle, ensuring timely submission of electronic claims.
- Reconcile payment remittance advices daily, ensuring accurate posting to patient accounts.
- Proactively address and resolve claim rejections to maximize reimbursement.
- Identify and report significant rejection trends to the Director of Finance and CEO.
- Request and maintain pre-authorization for reimbursement from insurance carriers.
Credentialing and Compliance
- Ensure and maintain provider credentialing with Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care Organizations (MCOs).
- Coordinate with Cerner/EMR regarding staff access creation/termination and address system-related service requests.
- Assist the Chief Clinical Officer in monitoring chart deadlines and completing monthly documentation audits.
Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate demographic records within Specialty Practice Management (SPM) systems, including insurance status.
- Provide demographic details for grant reporting and annual ORS data analysis.
- Generate reports for analysis and grant reporting as needed by Senior Management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in an administrative position, preferably within a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
