Assistant Harbor Manager

Position Summary:

The Assistant Harbor Manager plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of the harbor facilities at the Mentor Harbor Yachting Club. This role involves assisting in the day-to-day management of the marina, coordinating transient docking, maintaining harbor infrastructure, and delivering exceptional service to club members and guests. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, customer-service focused, and enjoys working in a marine environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist the Harbor Manager with daily harbor operations including transient slip assignments, dock traffic, and scheduling.
• Supervise dock staff and seasonal employees; provide guidance and ensure safe, professional work practices.
• Monitor and maintain harbor equipment, docks, and infrastructure for safety, functionality, and cleanliness.
• Communicate regularly with members and guests to address inquiries, concerns, and service requests.
• Oversee fueling operations and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
• Keep accurate records of harbor activity, reservations, maintenance, and incidents.
• Enforce club policies, safety regulations, and harbor rules.
• Support emergency procedures including spill response, weather events, or vessel incidents.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in marina, harbor, or boating operations preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willing to learn how to operate small boats and marina equipment (forklifts, pumps, etc.).
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours as needed.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, and perform duties in an outdoor environment.
• Valid driver’s license and boating certifications are preferred.

Working Conditions:

• Work performed both indoors and outdoors, often in varied weather conditions.
• Requires standing for extended periods, walking on docks, and occasional lifting of heavy objects.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
