What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Principal position at Mentor Public Schools?
- Must have appropriate, valid certification or license as recognized by the Ohio Department of Education.
- Serve as chief executive administrative officer of the elementary school assigned with his/her primary role being one of leadership of staff to develop a sound, researched-based, educational program for all students assigned to his/her building.
- Implement elementary education curriculum and policies directed by the Board and as interpreted by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Superintendent of Schools.
- Provide leadership in striving to achieve District goals for students by providing educational direction and supervision to the certificated and classified staff assigned to his/her building.
- Act as a proper model for staff and students both in school and when outside the District.
- Perform duties in a professional manner and in accordance with Mentor Exempted Village Board of Education by-laws, policies, and administrative guidelines.
- Maintain a program of supervision and in-service education for the elementary teachers, support staff, and supervisory staff for the purpose of improving curriculum and instruction.
- Promote professional growth through workshops, individual consultation and group meetings, attendance at conferences, and use of consultants and programs designed for educational improvement in the elementary school environment.
- Ability to communicate with students and parents the manner in which the curriculum relates to them.
- Demonstrate the ability to work and interact with other staff members, students and administration in a manner that is cooperative and productive.
- Ensure appropriate and effective supervision and evaluation of all building staff.
