Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage the microbiology laboratory staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for microbiological testing
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and guidelines, including FDA, EPA, and ISO
- Oversee the preparation, analysis, and documentation of microbiological samples
- Conduct routine and specialized microbiological testing, including microbial identification and enumeration
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration and maintenance
- Monitor laboratory inventory and order supplies as needed
- Collaborate with other departments to support product development and quality assurance initiatives
- Prepare and present reports on laboratory findings and activities to senior management
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques and methodologies
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and guidelines (e.g., FDA, EPA, ISO)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other relevant software
