The Afterschool Teacher (Mentor) is responsible for managing the classroom environment, while supporting all functions and components of programming. We are currently seeking passionate educators, committed to "nurturing the genius" and enriching the lives of our children and youth. This position will work with school-aged children (Kindergarten - 5th Grade) in classrooms up to 17 students with another mentor.
Schedule:
Mon - Thu (2:15pm - 6:15pm)
Responsibilities and Duties Include:
- Deliver and implement program activities
- Academic support
- Lesson Planning
- Supervision and management of assigned classroom and program activities
- Provide guidance to youth and to ensure they are having a safe and enriching experience
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and measurable outcomes for youth
- Assist Program Director with lesson plan and program planning
- Effective lesson implementation and academic support
- Contribute to program evaluation and data collection
- Hands on engagement during all daily activities and lessons.
- Communicate with supervisor on a weekly basis concerning the site or individual issues or new projects
- Assist with ongoing cleaning, organizing, set-up, visioning of program space.
- Attend weekly and/or bi-weekly check-in meetings with the full team.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of youth and staff at all times
- Attend professional development trainings
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least one year of experience in education or youth development
- Exceptionally strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and management skills
- Ability to lift at least 30 pounds
- Creativity, flexibility and the ability to effectively in work with diverse populations
- Able to get to work daily
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.50 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 per week
