Position Summary
MEPPI's Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD) is looking for a Production Manager to oversee and manage the manufacturing staff, production, testing, material handling and factory maintenance activities with emphasis on safely delivering CPS products, maintaining positive employee relations, and meeting customer requirements and commitments.
Essential Functions
- Manage all activities of CPS production and testing with an emphasis on safety, positive employee relations, work efficiency, product quality and resolution of production problems.
- Manage the production and material handling staff according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve Company and division objectives. Develop employees by training, cross training and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and operate in accordance with the shop wage programs including testing of employees for skill requirements.
- Maintain and monitor employee disciplinary action records, attendance figures, time off records and accident reports.
- Prepare the production schedule and assign resources to meet delivery commitments. Optimize efficiency of employees, equipment, materials and workflows to improve quality, productivity, cost and delivery performance.
- Organize, prepare, release, implement, and/or update processes, work instructions, and other documents that govern the manufacturing process.
- Evaluate and publish labor and efficiency data and other metrics relevant to the assessment and improvement of production activities.
- Manage the use of the test lab and coordinate testing schedule, equipment maintenance and installation of customer equipment.
- Coordinate with supply chain to manage shipment and receipt of products from offsite storage to meet production and customer commitments.
- Lead the development and implementation of manufacturing plans to support the introduction of new products and processes, including the assembly of prototypes, testing requirements and training / demonstrations.
- Oversee physical inventory management including warehouse layout, inventory transactions, accuracy and cycle counting.
- Monitor stock levels and reorder consumable items for production and shipping.
- Manage and maintain factory fixtures, tools, cranes and other shop equipment essential to the production needs of manufacturing. Manage maintenance intervals, including coordination with outside services.
- Ensure that required paperwork, such as shipping/receiving, assembly check sheets and test sheets, is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Process Engineering Change Notices to ensure that job BOMs and software revisions for manufactured items are current.
- Manage factory equipment improvements and new equipment installation.
- Coordinate, conduct and attend safety meetings, team meetings, production meetings, and cross-functional meetings as required. Provide technical support to the activities of the Safety Committee.
- Prepare and manage assigned budgets. Assist with development and management of capital budgets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field with a minimum 5 years of experience with manufacturing and a minimum 2 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of manufacturing made-to-order products.
- Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required to communicate with employees, customers and vendors.
- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
- Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and MRP/ERP systems.
