POSITION SUMMARY
Lead the programing, design, and implementation of monitoring, communication and control hardware and software for energy systems for the Substation Division (SSD).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Lead the programming of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software and hardware to monitor and control energy system equipment.
- Lead the development and implementation of design improvements for product quality, processing time, component lead time, construction design and product support.
- Identify and create hardware and software specifications for substation projects. Prepare and review mechanical and electrical drawings
- Implement cybersecurity service plans for FACTS & HVDC systems that ensure compliance to NERC-CIP regulations, including monthly reporting on vulnerabilities and countermeasures.
- Develop software patches, conduct patch testing on operating systems, support the patch application in the field. Manage updates and version control for SSD software installations.
- Program, test, and troubleshoot cybersecurity devices, including unidirectional data diodes, remote access servers, and other SCADA communications equipment.
- Design and program HMI hardware and software for FACTS & HVDC systems.
- Participate in site commissioning tests for FACTS and HVDC systems.
- Prepare and review mechanical and electrical and system drawings.
- Review vendor design submittals and quotes.
- Perform factory acceptance tests (FAT) and field/site acceptance tests (SAT). Create test plans and report results.
- Monitor and track progress towards completion milestones and deadlines. Communicate progress towards the achievement of milestones and deadlines.
- Assist with developing and implementing design improvements for product quality, processing time, component lead time, construction time, and to facilitate product support.
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Division by professionally representing the Company at customer locations and through interaction with other MEPPI Departments and vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced experience with protective relaying principles, design, and programming
- Advanced knowledge of FACTS & HVDC technologies
- Advanced computer programming experience with modern programming languages.
- Advanced knowledge of network and communication protocols, logic and control platforms, and system programming.
- Advanced interpersonal communication skills required to communicate with employees, customers and suppliers.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and material.
- Advanced computer skills, emphasizing knowledge of MS Office products and MATLAB, Simulink, and power systems simulation software.
