Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our site team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining employee records and facilitating smooth payroll operations.
Duties
- Process payroll for all our site / field employees accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Perform account reconciliation to verify the accuracy of payroll data and resolve discrepancies.
- Analyze payroll data to identify trends or issues that may require attention or correction.
- Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Conduct data entry for new hires, terminations, and changes in employee status or compensation.
- Utilize HRIS (Human Resource Information System) for managing employee records and payroll processing.
- Maintain knowledge of corporate accounting practices, including double entry bookkeeping principles.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate benefit deductions and tax withholdings are applied correctly.
- Assist in audits related to payroll processes as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in payroll processing is required, preferring candidates with experience in Construction or Industrial or Engineering fields.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits.
- Proficiency in accounting software and HRIS.
- Detail-oriented mindset with exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. including Management, Project Managers, Engineering, Superintendents, and Skilled trades
