Event Staff Member
Summary
Mercantile Hall is an event venue located in the heart of historic downtown Burlington, Wisconsin. After opening in 2017, Mercantile Hall has served tens of thousands of people helping to celebrate weddings, corporate meetings, and special life events. We are known for our unique setting, small town love, and helpful, high-service minded staff. We are growing and are seeking part-time staff to add to our team of amazing event staff.
Responsibilities
This position requires availability on Fridays starting as early as 7AM. Candidates should be available on Fridays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays. There are two shifts per day as outlined below and candidates should be willing to work both shifts on a given day. The shift details are:
AM Shift: Between 7 AM and 12 PM, as dictated by morning set up needs. This is typically a 2-5 hour shift.
AM Shift Duties:
- Greets and thanks guests upon arrival
- Set tables and chairs for events or tours
- Hang pendant lighting
- Hang customer items as required
- Set out linens and fold napkins
- Move outdoor camper to desired location
- Restock bathroom and kitchen supplies
- Clear out kitchen for caterers
- Pack up guest items if required
- Power-wash outdoor spaces
- Move outdoor furniture (heavy)
PM Shift: Between 1 PM and 7 PM, as dictated by ceremony time. This is typically a 5 hour shift.
PM Shift Duties:
- Set ceremony chairs as directed by Event Manager
- Set outdoor furniture (screens, tables, chairs, heaters)
- Light candles
- Greet and direct guests
- Move ceremony chairs
- Other preparation as delegated by Event Manger
- Temperature checks if needed
Monday shift: 7 AM-11 AM. Reset the space for tours given during the week.
Requirements
- Must act with absolute integrity and honesty.
- Have a positive disposition with a client centered, can-do attitude.
- Be comfortable working both outdoors and inside the building when events utilize all spaces on property.
- Serve as an ambassador for our brand and corporate principles.
- Weekend availability is required, with a commitment to work at least 4 weekend shifts per month May – November, up to as many as desired.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use an extended ladder.
- Ability to lift/move various heavy objects.
- Ensure that all fire & safety codes are adhered to during set-up and followed by guests (training will be provided) and safety guidelines are followed throughout the event.

Pay: $17.00 per hour
