The MCCDC Staff are committed to providing children with the best experience possible. Parts of that experience are the meals and snacks we provide throughout each day. As such, our Food Service Tech II preps, cooks, and serves nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack everyday for children 0-5 years old. A Food Service Tech II is responsible for creating recipes and menus, keeping inventory of food and food services supplies, and creating orders on a weekly basis. General Description:
The incumbent will, under supervision of the Child Care Center Director, implement the food service program. Responsible for efficient and timely preparation and serving of meals and snacks for children and adults. Maintain center kitchen and equipment in an orderly, safe and sanitary condition. Preparation of reports to fulfill the requirements of the State and Federal Food Program.

Examples of Duties

Essential Functions:


  • Prepares food for breakfast, lunch and snack; measures, chops, cuts, slices, stirs and blends as required for preparation of food
  • Serves appropriate portions of food to classrooms for breakfast, lunch and snack
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchen dishes, utensils, equipment, counters, sinks and cabinets
  • Works closely with teachers in daily delivery of meals, to plan special menus and bag lunches for field trips
  • Conducts regular inventories and maintains inventory records
  • Completes daily menu production records
  • Orders food and supplies within established guidelines
  • Ensures that local and state food program requirements for food preparation, safety and sanitation are met
  • Performs related duties as assigned
  • Transports meals and meal supplies/equipment between sites daily

Knowledge of:

  • Efficiently implement a food service operation
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions in an independent manner
  • Effectively distribute appropriate amount of food to classrooms
  • Estimate amounts of food and non-food items needed for food preparation and service
  • Maintain and operate a variety of food service appliances and equipment in a safe and sanitary manner
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships with co-workers
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Lift 50 pounds
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti-racist principles to nurture and create a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning and work environment. In conducting their duties, staff members shall respect and acknowledge the diversity of students and colleagues.

Typical Qualifications

Required:


  • High school diploma OR GED
    OR
  • The equivalent education and experience.
  • Valid California Driver License
  • Serv Safe Food Handler Certification
