What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiscal Supervisor position at Merced County?
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Equivalent to successful completion of the courses required for a major in accounting at an accredited four (4) year college or university; or successful completion of a professional accounting curriculum given by an approved institution which included courses in elementary and advanced accounting, auditing, cost accounting, and business law (related accounting experience may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.)
OR
Experience:
Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in performing fiscal and/or professional accounting duties. Supervisory experience desirable.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs complex and highly responsible fiscal monitoring and fiscal record-keeping functions for the assigned County Department.
- Makes journal entries, fiscal transactions, reconciles accounts, ledgers, expenditures and other fiscal transactions. Also identifies sub-budget needs, making necessary adjustments.
- Provides supervision, evaluation and training to assigned personnel.
- Provides consultation regarding fiscal matters for staff; coordinates complex budget and fiscal procedures with other government agencies.
- Directs the preparation of claims and invoices to State or Federal agencies.
- Bills and monitors contracts for assigned department and initiates budget transfers as necessary.
- Develops salary projections for budgeting programs as well as preparing accounting and fiscal reports based on records maintained.
- May have responsibility for negotiation of contracts and grant writing/monitoring.
- Coordinates all departmental communication requisitions.
- Develops blanket purchase orders and purchases Department/Office equipment.
- Analyze and monitor investment portfolios and ensures portfolio compliance.
- Research market data and summarize information.
- Assists with a variety of fiscal and other record-keeping duties as needed.

Salary : $69,202 - $84,198
