Mercedes-Benz Research and Development North America is seeking a Senior Creative Automotive Designer to join the Advanced Exterior Design Team located in Carlsbad, CA. In this role, the ideal candidate will contribute to Advanced and Production Design projects, create innovative sketches and renderings, and deliver design presentations to a broad audience. The Senior Designer is also expected to design and develop new vehicle concepts in conjunction with the Mercedes-Benz corporate identity and strategy.
Job Responsibilities :
- Creates compelling and appropriate vehicular concepts.
- Visualizes ideas and concepts in a 2-D form through sketches, renderings and tape drawings.
- Translates 2-D concepts and ideas into 3-D.
- Follows design directives and provides input into the creative process.
- Directs the development of clay scale and hard modeling.
- Conducts project and design-related research to monitor future design trends and benchmark competition.
- Prepares and delivers design presentations verbally, visually, and in written form to management using 2D rendering techniques.
- Understands and applies knowledge of industrial materials, methods and technologies.
- Stays up to date on automotive engineering and aerodynamics.
- Provides administrative support to Senior and Principal Designers and Modelers to foster creativity.

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future : $109,100 - $136,300.
