The Quality Department Measurement Engineer in the measurement house of the Sprinter Production in Charleston. Responsibilities includes setting-up and performing tests & procedures for analysis of bodies, body parts and complete vehicles as well as improving the measurement systematic

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or similar, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field plus 3-5 years of Metrology experience. In lieu of a Bachelors degree, an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science or related technical field plus 5-7 years of Metrology experience OR a High School Diploma/GED plus 9-11 years of Metrology experience will be accepted.

Job Overview:
The Quality Department Measurement Engineer in the measurement house of the Sprinter Production in Charleston. Responsibilities includes setting-up and performing tests & procedures for analysis of bodies, body parts and complete vehicles as well as improving the measurement systematic
Responsibilities:
- Conducts routine and non-routine inspections.
- Conduct layout inspections on product, fixtures or gages as required by the audit schedule.
- Prepare and maintain CMM programs and reports from the layout inspections.
- Review and report any discrepancies from the reports to group leader.
- Support setting-up the measurement house including floor layout, equipment install and ramp-up phases.
- Evaluate machine usage and suggest optimization according to needs of production for series and special analysis.
- Performs testing of special requests and series measures and provides analytical support for the evaluation of technical changes.
- Evaluates effectiveness of quality measures and recommends changes of test methods, setup, process and design concepts
- Support senior specialist in the testing and verification of implemented solutions for failure analysis together with the development department, production department and suppliers.
- Support senior specialist with the creation of new Measurement report templates in PiWeb Monitor and Polyworks.
- Assist senior specialist in development of new methods and procedures.
- Creation and maintenance of reporting database in conjunction with Van standards through implementation of PiWeb Planner.
- Maintain written procedures including Work Instructions, PB’s and AA documents.
- Interpret results and reports from Q-Information (CAD-data, measurement reports, Pi-Web, IQ-VIS). Prepare management presentations.
- Assist in continuous improvement and comparison to other measurement houses and methods at Mercedes- Benz.
- Assist in internal, external and environmental audits as needed.
- Participates in regularly scheduled meetings.
- Other duties as assigned
