JOB DUTIES


  • Teach the existing General Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses.
  • Participate in all department activities including advising and mentoring of students.
  • Participation in curriculum planning, program review, service on College-wide committees, and a willingness to serve as course coordinator is required.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing, utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
  • Regularly evaluate courses to ensure that learning outcomes and assessments are appropriate and effective.
  • Work collaboratively in a diverse learning institution; demonstrate commitment to teaching and working with a multi-cultural and multi-generational student body.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare and submit required documentation including course syllabi, student attendance, final course grades, and other information as requested or required by the college.
  • Provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
  • Regularly evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives, and inform them, in a timely manner, of their progress.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend student-learning materials.
  • Coordinate with the WWC and JKC Chemistry lab coordinators.
  • Assist with departmental strategic planning and outcomes assessment.
  • Advise students at both campuses.
  • Participate in college-wide committees and campus activities.
  • Adhere to all College policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate professional growth within the discipline.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

  • Teach at the West Windsor Campus (WWC) and James Kerney Campus (JKC)

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Positions in this class typically require: ability to use a key board, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • A Master’s Degree in Chemistry from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working with an ethnically and culturally diverse student population
  • Prior college level teaching experience in the area of Chemistry.

  • Community College teaching experience.
  • PhD in Chemistry
  • Experience with online modalities and instruction in Blackboard.
