Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiscal Specialist to join our team, with minimum of 3 years experience in the accounting/fiscal. As a Fiscal Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting with various financial tasks, including accounting, general ledger reconciliation, budgeting, and accounts payable. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and possess excellent organizational and analytical skills. Will be proficient in Excel and have strong computerized accounting skills, high level of accuracy, be able to sustain extended periods of concentration and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and meet frequent deadlines. Prior experience or familiarity with the Head Start program is a definite plus.
Responsibilities:
- Perform clerical duties related to fiscal operations
- Assist with general ledger accounting and journal entries
- Reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis
- Assist with budget preparation and monitoring
- Process accounts payable invoices and ensure timely payments
- Assist with financial reporting and analysis
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Assist with tax preparation and filing
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of government or non-profit organization accounting principles.
- Proficiency in general ledger reconciliation and journal entries
- Familiarity with budgeting processes and techniques
- Experience in accounts payable processing and vendor management
- Ability to analyze financial data and generate reports
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficient in using accounting software GMS (Grants Management Software).
