Truck drivers are essential to our country’s economy because they haul products and materials throughout all states. Without truck drivers, businesses and consumers would not have what they need. Van Compliance Coordinators act as a communication point to the truck drivers; effectively ensuring that each driver remains in compliance with various tasks and deadlines. As a Van Compliance Coordinator, you will be the main point of contact for our drivers when they have items they need to complete to remain in an operational status.
What do Mercer Transportation Van Compliance Coordinators Do?
Proactively communicate and document upcoming requirements that are due for our contractors. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator and able to remain calm, composed and concise. You must be able to multi-task as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision. The goal is to save drivers time and mitigate disruptions in service by making sure compliance items are completed in a timely manner.
Job Expectations of a Van Compliance Coordinator
The aim is to notify contractors of what requirements they have upcoming, reminding them of their commitments, and documenting those conversations. Staying ahead of due dates is critical to the success of our drivers, agents, and Mercer as a whole.
Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm
Job duties often include:
- Coordinates notification to drivers of upcoming due dates.
- Receive calls, records information, and enters data into software system.
- Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance.
- Provide truck drivers with information about upcoming due dates requirements.
- Compiles a variety of data for developing reports, information and mandated requirements.
You are expected to identify upcoming due dates and notify drivers of what’s coming due. Calling the drivers and discussing the upcoming due dates and documenting those conversations are the main responsibilities. There will be times where you are occasionally asked to help cover for a missing coordinator.
Interpersonal Skills and Knowledge a Van Compliance Coordinator Should Know
As a Van Compliance Coordinator, you schedule and organize ways to notify drivers of different items that need to be handled in order to keep those trucks in service. The ability to stay organized with materials and time is essential. The need for organization is due to the nature of managing many different projects and people at once. You will resolve most customer service issues by taking independent actions and calculated risks without supervision. One of the most critical skills is the ability to efficiently answer and respond to questions regarding projects and promptly respond to customer needs. You must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills used to effectively convey information with a clear understanding to others.
Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Basic experience using computers. Experience using dispatch and trucking software preferred.
