What are the responsibilities and job description for the VALVE REPAIR TECH position at MERCER VALVE CO., INC.?
JOB SUMMARY:
To assist in the Valve Repair Department in all aspects of testing and repairing relief valves.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs dis-assembly, sandblasting, cleaning, inspecting, and re-assembly of relief valves.
- Properly documents testing, repairing, and information from the nameplates on the relief valve.
- Demonstrates excellent customer relations abilities.
- Performs shop maintenance, sweeping floors, cleaning counters, test rooms, organizing tools
- Performs re-machining or lapping.
- Travels with mobile unit.
- Climbs up to 100ft.
- Lifts up to 50lbs.
- Wears respirator when required.
- Greet or meet each customer with a friendly and positive attitude.
- Accurately completes customer instruction sheet with all information needed; such as, set pressure required, contact name, location, purchase order number, shipping information, and other pertinent information.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to completely repair spring loaded relief valves, Shop and Field.
- Must have working knowledge of pilot relief valves.
- Leadership Abilities.
- Ability to accurately complete all documentation required.
- Capability of sandblasting, cleaning, inspecting, disassembling, re-machining,and lapping valves.
- Capable of lifting up to 50lbs.
- Ability to physically and medically wear a respirator.
- Ability to travel up to two weeks per month.
- Must complete Mercer's Training Program.
- Ability to safely and legally operate a motor vehicle based on state and local requirements.
