Reports To: Director, Health Center
Summary
Reporting to the Health Center Director, deliver care to students using the nursing process of assessment and evaluation. Interact with parents, faculty and other health care team members, following policies and protocols
Example of Duties:
- Evaluate and perform full physical assessments on students who present to the health center. Collect and document current health status and history.
- For admitted students, check vital signs periodically and make ongoing assessment of health status and respond appropriately.
- Report care status to involved faculty, parents and health team members, if indicated.
- Involved in supply and medication ordering and maintenance.
- Will help track, analyze, and follow-up on weekly maintenance medication schedules to ensure compliance and accurate stock control.
- Responsible for office administration, light housekeeping, and equipment maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical practice and care. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
- Ability and desire to work with the adolescent population.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills along with high attention to detail.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally.
- Maintain a current driver’s license.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania; Current CPR certification.
- Two years recent experience in acute care required. Emergency Room or Doctor’s office experience preferred.

- Environment: Work is performed mostly in an environmentally controlled indoor environment. May travel from site-to-site on campus.
- Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk and stand for long periods of time. Have full range of motion for patient care including the ability to bend, push, pull, sit, and stretch. May be required to lift patients with the aid of another person; Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to use a computer, telephone, copy machine and medical equipment; need to verbally communicate to exchange information; must be able to perform CPR.
- Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
- Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
